Section 9. The Vice-Chancellor and his Appointment Previous Next (i) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor from out of a panel of three names,
recommended by a Committee constituted by the State Government. (II) The Committee referred to in sub-section (i) shall consist of three members of whom one shall be nominated by the University Grants Commission/AICTE, one shall be elected by the Executive Council and the remaining member shall be nominated by the Government, and the Chancellor shall appoint one of the members to be the Chairman of the Committee: Provided that no person shall be eligible to be a member of the Committee if he is a member of any of the authorities of the University or an employee of the University or of a College or institution maintained or recognized by or affiliated to, the University. (iii) The Committee shall make the required recommendation within a period of three months from the date of its appointment, failing which, another such Committee shall be appointed by the Chancellor to make the required recommendation to the Chancellor, who shall appoint a Vice-Chancellor accordingly. (iv) The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of three years from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall be eligible for reappointment for another term not exceeding three years or till he attains such age as prescribed under Rules. (v) The remuneration payable to, and lire other conditions of service of, the Vice-Chancellor shall be determined by the Rules.
